Today’s resolution: Skip the small talk

22 Jun

I hate small talk. Although I see a social necessity for it at times (parties, business situations), it’s an energy drain. That’s one of the reasons I love self-checkout at the grocery store. I don’t have to stand in line chitchatting with strangers about the length of the line, how no one knows how to bag groceries properly, or the rising/falling price of mangoes. I get my groceries, scan and bag them, pay and leave. It’s brilliant.

well, no one DOES know how to bag groceries properly – except me! But I promise if we are ever in line one behind the other, I won’t mention it. 😉

I like to bag my own groceries …. another reason for self-checkout. … I imagine if you and I were in line together, we would make small talk. We’d have a real conversation.
